Behind the scenes of Starchild

It has been a while, but we have much news to share with you in the upcoming weeks! So keep an eye on our site!

We made a little trip to Rome, a lovely city with much history, many lovely monuments and fontains, restaurants and small bars, narrow streets and many vespa's, and besides all that: great food and beautiful friendly people! In Rome you can get much inspiration for any type of art and so we discovered more and more about the influences of RanestRane.

Once arrived in Rome, we received an invitation of the band to visit them at the studio, to enjoy a mini rehearsal, being behind the scenes of the making of their new baby Starchild.
Ofcourse we want to share this with you.

Starchild, the third and final part of the trilogy A Space Odyssey. We only heard a small part of this album, the final part, a raw piece of music which is still under construction.

With a cup of coffee we watched the final part of the movie and heard a beautiful piece of music. Most likely Starchild will contain a lot of guitarsound. Massimo is the main person on this part, this because there is a lot of space for guitar if we look at the movie, not many scene switching, which gives him space to make longer guitarsolos's painted with the sounds of the keyboards of Riccardo. Daniele and Maurizio will make the dramatic sounds with the drums and bass which gives a result: A heavy rockpart!

**Please note** Many things can be changed, perhaps several times, it's all in the making (!)

RanestRane is more than just a band, it's a friendship, a family! The boys are open minded, discuss a lot with each other and above that, they are an inspiration for each other which we felt when we were at their studio, much harmony. RanestRane are proud of their art! Walls are filled with movie posters, tourphoto's and tourpasses, memories of their travels. We are so thankfull for have been at their home, the place where all the beauty have been made and where more beauty will be written.

Grazie mille RanestRane for your time, the laughter, the inspiration, and your kindness! We are looking forward to Starchild!

RanestRane goes Gothenburg

RanestRane went to Gothenburg for the very first time. Full of excitement and joy we went to Musikens Hus Gothenburg on the 4th of March.

GARF arranged a lovely mini festival where RanestRane was the second act. Together with Skull Parade and main act Änglagård we tried to make a wonderful evening full of music.

It's always a bit scary and nervous to enter a new venue, a new place, this would be the first time in Sweden. RanestRane delivered the best they could and we from Fanweb Scandinavia had only our hope and believe in the best for the start of something beautiful in Sweden. The concert was wonderful and we were not the only one with these thoughts. We received a lot of great feedback from fans and new fans! We would love to share these words with you, words from the fans in Sweden.

Karl Göran Karlsson: " Thanks for a fantastic gig! The whole concert was good but the peak of your performance was "Monolith - Part II". Absolutely superb! I really like Italian prog and Ranestrane is surely another excellent contribution here. I wish you good luck with your tour and hope to see you soon again in Sweden."

Robert Larsson: Robert, Lilian and RanestRane. It was a pleasure to have you here. A splendid perfomance, the audience were really excited after the show. You noticed it in the merch area, right? :) And Riccardo, thank´s for not giving up when technique wasn´t on the friendly side. Perfect!!! Good luck with the rest of the tour!

Martin Hansen: I think this was the best concert I've heard for a long time. Your music and videoprojection was very nice, I like this kind of music. It was a very good first gig here in Sweden and I hope this was not the last time we see you here. You are always welcome back in Sweden. We love you. Your show was fantastic, and you are such good musicians together. Keep on playing and make new music. Forza Italia!!/Martin Hansen

Jan Erik wrote us an email:

" We started a trip on a cold saturday morning from our home 400 km away from Gothenborg, it has snowed that night, not that much, but still I was wondering how will it be to drive in this weather. But lucky we were, my wife and I, it was no problem at all. We came to the biggest city on the west coast of Sweden and were eating some dinner before we went to Musikens Hus.

The first band was Skull Parade. At 20.00 THE band I have want to see live for so long time, entered the stage, and I must say it was amazing! Right from the beginning I got the shivers and goosebumps and felt so happy, they played and they got the audience to realise what they are experiencing, This band is good. And as longer the show went on the audience started to dance, scream and and make big applause, Ranestrane THEY came, THEY played and THEY succeed, I spoke with some other people after the show and one man said, this was just amazing, it was true magic, Those Italians, they can play, this was the best concert I've seen after so many years, and I just said; I agree. I'm sure that they made a footprint in Gothenborg and I hope that it will spread over Sweden so we can go and see Ranestrane again, This was magic as the man said, true magic and I can drive 1000 km just to see them again, but I think I will take a plane instead, because I will see RanestRane again, that's for sure"

A few words from Fanweb Scandinavia

After 15 exciting months we would like to share some information with you about the Fanweb Scandinavia.

Fanweb Scandinavia is a project which started after the Marillion Weekends in 2015 by Robert and Lilian Boomsema.

"We went to the Marillion Weekend in Port Zelande in 2015. RanestRane was playing as a support act during that weekend. I was talking a lot with Robert about RanestRane when I first saw them in Copenhagen 2014 when RanestRane was supporting the Steven Rothery band. I was very impressed and was very happy with the fact that RanestRane would play at the Marillion Weekend so Robert could see them himself and hopefully getting impressed like I was after the first time seeing them."

"RanestRane played on the Saturday evening during the Marillion weekend. Many Italian fans were in front to support their band from their country. Also many other people were getting impressed about this band."

"Robert was really impressed, and I was happy about the fact that I was right haha, we enjoyed the rest of that weekend with Marillion and ofcourse we tried to get in contact with some bandmembers of Rane, to thank them for their talent and music."

Why starting this project?

"When we went home after an amazing week in the Netherlands (our native country) we couldn't stop thinking about RanestRane, RanestRane was the subject of the day! We bought a cd at the Marillion convention and we played it every single day several times. We were totally inlove with the music. We wanted to do something, why is RanestRane not that well known for many other people? How can we share our feelings about this band for others? We need to do something....

We came in contact with the boys via social media, we chatted and later on we came in contact with the management of the band. Our idea was to create a fanpage on the net with the hope to get in contact with other fans, to support the band and also to let people be familiar with the band. To get passionated like we are. We informed the band and management about our plans, we wanted to start a website. The boys were impressed and perhaps also a bit surprised about the impact they had on us during that weekend in the Netherlands. We started with the build up of the website, emailed and chatted about what could be done better or needed to be changed before getting online. We made agreements, we want to do the best for the boys without pushing nor damaging any contact or trust. The boys needed to stand 100%  behind our ideas! This was the important fact we wanted to have!

We started the 1st of May 2015, very excited and nervous, what will they think? Will this be good? What if...? Many questions, and I can tell you that it was such a relief when Riccardo and Daniele came back with their feedback how great work we did for them, that they were emotional and very pleased to have our support."

What happens today?

"RanestRane supports us, we build up a relationship with the band, the manager and the fans. We became officially representatives for the band in Scandinavia and beyond, we are trying to build up a network for the boys in Scandinavia and also in the rest of Europe, we are involved with the official facebook groups both in Italy and Scandinavia where we are admins, we discuss fan matters with the management and band about how we can make the website and support even better for the fans. We became a family, as friends, as fans."

Why the name Fanweb Scandinavia?

"We chose the name Fanweb Scandinavia as Robert and I are living in Sweden, the project is created here in Sweden but is open for everyone. We also communicate in English as we want to reach fans from over the whole world, not only in Scandinavia, but also the rest of the world. As we are a fanweb, we were very careful to not stand in the way for a official build up of a possible website for a possible fanclub, you never know what the future brings... We also have co operation with the Italian fans which are not able to understand Swedish, English is just the perfect language to understand for everyone. Some important articles will be translated to Italian via our partners in Italy of course"

What can we expect in the future?

"Many things are in the pipeline, we cannot inform to much about the future, time will tell :-) "

By sharing this information we would like to thank:

YOU as member and fan of RanestRane for your love and support for our work for the band. For sharing your photo's and reviews regarding the band, your happiness and joy.

RanestRane Fangroup Italy for their co operating and support.

Halloween with RanestRane and the Steven Rothery Band

Hi all!

Last month the boys supported the Steve Rothery Band in 3 places, Russelheim, Uden and Cologne where the lucky places. Unfortunately we were not there but we asked our friends to keep us updated during these 3 days and asked them to surprise us with photo's and small reviews!

We enjoyed all updates and we will show some of them!

Marjo Klingenberg (Uden)

Most of the time, when you are going to a gig, you are not looking forward tot he support act, because it’s the main act you want to see. But there are a few exceptions and one of them is the amazing RanestRane. The first time I saw them was over a year ago in Ulft when they were touring with the SRB and it was a jaw dropping experience. Second time I saw them during the Marillion Weekend PZ 2015 and again they were fantastic. The third time, true magic happend on stage in Roma together with Steve Hogarth, and they lifted the whole gig to a ridiculous high level.

And then there was last Saturday 31 October in Uden, again as support act fort he SRB, but to be honest, RanestRane has passed the status of being a support act by far now. Normally the venue isn’t full yet when a support act starts, but it was full in Uden. Most of the time people don’t stop their conversations when a support act starts playing, instead they start talking louder, but at the moment RanestRane started playing Semi, you could hear a pin drop.
The whole performance was just amazing (again) and according to the response of the the crowd they agreed.
Is it a problem they don’t sing in English? Well, music is emotion and the Italian language (for me) is passion and emotion in one, so for me it even gives an extra dimension to the allready awesome music. Therefore I hope they wil never change this and keep singing in Italian.

Daniele Pomo, Riccardo Romano, Massimo Pomo and Maurizio Meo are passionate musicians from the highest level and they are getting better every time I see them. I can’t wait to see them again on December 6th when they are going to perform their new album H.A.L. If you haven’t seen them live before just buy a ticket, you are in for a real treat from an awesome band, and they deserve to be seen and heard and they deserve a ‘SOLD OUT’ sign on the venue of De Pul Uden.

Paul Kooijmans gave us some shots of his phone :-) He told us the following:
I'm not known with this band, but I loved what I heard! They received a huge applause which was well deserved!

Marco Keijzer also shared a photo as he couldn't resist to not take a few quicksnaps!
He told us the following: I'm neither so very known with this band, I think I miss a front person or so, I cannot explain what I miss, but the music is lovely to hear and I'm really looking forward to the next album Monolith part 2! ( We told him that H.A.L. will be the part 2 ;-) And that it will be released very soon!)

Carolien van Goethem told us the following:

This was the 3th time I saw Ranestrane and I really enjoyed it. I don't understand Italian but their atmosphic music and lyrics took me away to dreamy street again. I loved to see them enjoying themselves on stage together. I am looking forward too their new album and hope too see them 6 dec in Uden again

Christine Westbroek wrote us the following:

A Halloween night with RanestRane
Usually people try to scare the hell out of you at Halloween but this year I had a quite other experience.
As a supportact for the Steven Rotheryband we got to see the Italian band RanestRane.
Four very nice guys who clearly enjoy to collaborate together and who performed the music from their first album Monolith, part 1 of a serie of three called A Space Odyssey.

On this night we heard the atmospheric and sometimes haunting sounds from the trip through space.
Sometimes I got a feeling that I would like to hear some more vocals but on the other hand I think that they let us experience the emptiness and loneliness of space.
The compositions are really nice and the solo’s give space to all instruments and are showing the skills of all 4 bandmembers.
I have to admit that I am not a great fan of supportacts because I have seen too many of them that I did not like at all but the 40 minutes RanestRane was playing were flying by and I really would have loved to hear more of them.
Instead of scaring me they made me feel really happy that night.
If you want to see this great band too then get your chance and go to see them in The Pul in Uden on 6 December. You are really in for a treat and you’ll get to hear more of them because this time they are not supporting an other band but playing a full gig. Don’t miss it!

Even our friend Kim Hostrup Hansen from Denmark went to one of the gigs! He went to Cologne and surprised us with a review and photo's! Even a familiar face of our Italian friend Irene! Hi dear Irene! :-)

Fanweb Scandinavia meets RanestRane 12th of September 2015

And so the day arrived where we met the boys after the gig in Rome.

Rome, the home country of RanestRane, the heart of the musical career of this band started in this place and they show it. A review will arrive soon, so hold an eye on our page.

We have some photo's of the concert which we will show with you.
Enjoy watching the video of the concert of Steve Hogarth and RanestRane
